Bo Concept's 60th Anniversary

Sixty years. Three generations of Danish design founded by two Danish craftsmen. Sixty years. A vision that started in a small furniture factory in Denmark to what is now a global retail furniture chain in more than fifty countries. Sixty years. And still counting.

BoConcept, which was founded in Denmark in 1952, is now one of the biggest furniture retail stores around the world, which includes the Manila store operating since 1996. And to mark it's 60th anniversary this September, BoConcept pays tribute to its roots by launching SIXTY, the brand's anniversary book. Launching also with the celebration of it's anniversary, is the 2013 Collection which presents the three new designs by best-selling designer and BoConcept's specialist in modular sofa concepts, Anders Norgaard, namely, the Bergen Sofa, the Fargo Sofa and the Ogi Chair.

"This September, BoConcept marks it's 60th anniversary, and what better way to pay homage to its roots by launching SIXTY, the brand's anniversary book which serves as the brand patron's vehicle into the past. The book recaps the highlights of the company's illustrious history from their promising beginnings in 1952 to their current success of an awarded brand, with 250 mega stores in major capitals and cities around the world.

This year's anniversary celebration also sees the launch of the BoConcept 2013 Collection. It is an encapsulation of the trends that dominated the 50's and 60's with scenes from the popular TV series, "Mad Men" serving as an epitome of inspiration."

The Bergen Sofa has a masculine and voluminous design as shown by the massive size of its cushions, softened by a single top-stitch at the center.

The Ogi chair has a swivel function, available in fabric and leather.

I have always loved BoConcept's philosophy on individuality. This philosophy of the company is actually what it's best known for - modular furniture design. Through this, they give the clients or the users, design options to customize and make the furniture pieces more personal. Plus the option, of course, of choosing from a wide range of fabric and colors.

Take for example the Fargo Sofa. Characterized by soft lines and elegant details, the Fargo Sofa lets you choose from two different types of fillings for the seat cushion, namely Classic Comfort or Premium Comfort. You can also combine the sofa in any shape or size you desire with the available variations in the modules. Plus, it gives you the option to choose from two heights of backrests, three design options for the armrests and four designs options for the legs. It's practically designing designing your own sofa! So, even for designers, there are a lot of options available in doing the configuration for the seating, making it easy to design the lay-out and flexible enough to work with the limitations of the space.

BoConcept also takes us to a revival of the era of Danish modern classics by bringing to us the fifties classic - the Klint fabric. Named after it's designer, Danish textile designer and weaver, Vibeke Klint, the fabric is a classic complement to modern design with it's simplicity and straightforwardness.

Aside from the sofas, BoConcept also has a wide range of Danish furniture line including coffee tables, accent chairs, side tables, dining tables and chairs, beds, night stands, and desks. They also have the wall systems, bookcases and room dividers that may be customized in different shelving sizes and configurations, doors, and finishes. Just the way you want it. Also, they have accessories like pillows, lamps and art prints. I'm also impressed with their rugs which are a perfect complement to any contemporary modern home.

BoConcept Philippines joins the anniversary celebration by launching the SIXTY book and the 2013 Collection in their showroom in Bonifacio High Street this September. See for your own eyes the new designs and their other products as well. They have in-house design consultants which can assist you with your design needs and also to show you the flexibility of their furniture pieces.
