The Metrobank Foundation, Inc., together with Federal Land, Inc., United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID), BluPrint, and LifestyleAsia, is currently in search of licensed architects and interior designers, to join the 2011 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) National Competition.
Our designers and architects make living structures and spaces livable, not only for the homeowners but also for the surrounding environment as well. The Competition advocates for sustainability in architecture and interior design, as Mr. Aniceto Sobrepeña, president of Metrobank Foundation, puts it: “As they shape within their hands the spaces that also shape people’s lives, we believe that Architects and Interior Designers are not only designers of built structures, but more importantly, designers of the nation’s future.”
Interested architects should be 25 to 50 years old and 25 to 45 years old for interior designers. Entries for the architecture competition should be a built structure of a single detached green and sustainable residence in the Philippines. The house should be completed and occupied for at least one year upon submission of entry and should not have been entered in any other competition.
On the other hand, the interior design competition carries the theme “Eco-Asian interior design.” The use of indigenous materials is a plus. Interior designers shall submit concept designs and two finalists will be chosen to execute their design concept at The Oriental Place by Federal Land.
Entries for the interior design and architecture competitions should be submitted on or before May 24 at the Metrobank Foundation Office located at the 4th floor Metrobank Plaza, Sen. Architecture competition winners shall receive a cash prize of PhP 200,000. While interior design competition grand prize winners will receive PhP200,000 and PhP 150,000 for the special prize. The MADE winners will be honored and recognized in a ceremony befitting their excellence on September.
MADE is an annual competition which aims to recognize budding artists in the fields of painting, sculpture, architecture and interior design, as well as to launch and enhance their careers. The pioneering art competition of the Metrobank Foundation which started in 1984, MADE lists the names of now established up-and-coming masters such as Bobby Feleo, Elmer Borlongan, Mark Justiniani, Ferdinand Doctolero, Alwin Reamillo, Noёll El Farrol, Gabby Barredo and Arch. Angelo Mañosa in its roster of winners.
